Journalism: Hinterland Times May 2022

It’s another big month for the Hinterland Times with plenty of great articles about the people in our region. Our HT Editor, Victoria McGuin, does a fantastic job collating the stories each month and adding passion, personality and ideas to the newspaper.

Have you read about the developments affecting the Maleny Lane live music sessions? The Save Maleny Lane Live Music petition has amassed over 3800 signatures, and solutions are now in discussion. Keep an eye on the newspaper and Maleny Lane Facebook page for updates.

Also, the gorgeous Gay Liddington has finished her 100th HT story and is taking a break for now. Gay has been a mentor and friend to me over the years at HT. I will miss her warm smile and professional input, but I know that she will be enjoying her new personal project this year.

This month I had the opportunity to interview Craig Young from the Landsborough Rural Fire Brigade and hear about the hard work he and the team invest in fighting and preventing fires and managing the extreme flood emergencies in our region. We really are in good hands. It was moving to hear Craig’s stories and understand how much preparation, planning, and hard work goes into this essential community service.
